We have envisaged four post-Forum excursions. All of them will start on Sunday, 17 June, in the morning (ca. 10 a.m.):
- Royal Castle in Warsaw (and Royal Warsaw)
The Royal Castle served throughout the centuries as the official residence of Polish monarchs. Its history goes back to the fourteenth century. In the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries during the reign of Sigismund III Vasa, the Castle underwent large-scale expansion and was transformed into a five-winged edifice with an inner courtyard. It is located in the Castle Square, right at the entrance to the Warsaw Old Town.
The trip includes the guided visit to the castle, a walk around the Old Town and the Royal Tract.

- Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów (and Royal gardens)
The Palace in Wilanów is one of the most precious monuments of Polish Baroque built for King Jan III Sobieski. The history of the Wilanów Palace began on April 23, 1677. During the centuries the Palace underwent significant construction works. After completion, the building comprised of elements of a nobility house, an Italian garden villa and a French palace in the style of Louis XIV. In 1730 the internal décor of the Palace was adapted to the contemporary style. In 1805, thanks to the effort of last proprietor – Stanisław Kostka Potocki – a museum in the Wilanów Palace was opened.
The trip includes the guided visit to the Palace, as well as a walk in the Royal Gardens.

- Museum of the History of Polish Jews POLIN (and Jewish district in Warsaw)
POLIN is a narrative museum which presents a 1000-year history of Polish Jews. The museum is all about life. The exhibition ends with the beginning of IIWW. The main aim of the museum is to show the cultural and religious contribution of Jewish community to the life of the city. However, as it is stressed on the website of the museum “it is also a place for meetings and conversations for all of those eager to learn more about the past and present Jewish culture, to confront the stereotypes, and to face the perils of today’s world such as xenophobia and nationalistic prejudices”.
The trip includes the guided visit to the Museum and a walk in the former Jewish district in Warsaw.

- PKiN, i.e. Palace of Culture and Science (and socialistic Warsaw)
Palace of Culture and Science was constructed in 1955, during the process of rebuiltment of Warsaw after the destructions of IIWW and Warsaw Uprising in 1944. PKiN was designed by Soviet architect Lev Rudnev in Seven Sisters (the group of seven skyscrapers in Moscow) style and is informally referred to as the Eighth Sister. It was a gift to the people of Poland from USSR. The building was constructed by soviet and polish workers and originally was known as the Joseph Stalin Palace of Culture and Science (in the wake of destalinization the dedication to Stalin was revoked).
The trip includes the guided visit to the Palace of Culture and Science and a walk during which the monuments and architecture of socialistic Warsaw will be presented.
